The neighbouring Highland town of Aviemore lies 6 miles to the south of Carrbridge and is the gateway to the Cairngorm Mountain range. Although it  is probably best known as a skiing resort,  Aviemore offers a year round destination for those visiting the National Park. Aviemore is the largest town in Badenoch and Strathspey and features numerous shops and restaurants as well as tourist services. There is a cinema and a swimming pool in the Centre.

Carrbridge is ideally located for a visit to Aviemore:our guests can easily access and enjoy the amenities and services of our larger neighbour but still return to the relative tranquillity of our smaller and less developed village.
Whatever your age, a trip aboard The Strathspey Railway is a lovely and nostalgic way to spend a couple of hours. The terminus is to be found in Aviemore from where visitors can travel on a memorable little journey to nearby Broomhill, better known to many as Glenbogle from the BBC TV Series "Monarch of the Glen". You can relax, enjoy a snack or a dram or simply view the heather moorland and the Cairngorm Mountain range from the carriage window;scenes which have remained almost unchanged for a hundred years.

Nestled at the foot of the Cairngorms just outside Aviemore and 6 miles from Carrbridge, The Rothiemurchus Estate is a popular destination for visitors to the Cairngorm National Park. Famed for it's stunning scenery, the estate offers a wide range of walks as well as a host of diverse activities such as 4x4 safari drives, quad biking, fishing and clay pigeon shooting. The beautiful Loch an Eilen walk is a must do on any itinerary in the area.
